Ashes To Ashes Blood Ties (#3) Jennifer Armintrout Published by Mira on August 1st, 2007 384 pages Goodreads ~ Amazon ~ Kindle ~ Audiobook ~ Book Depository Being a vampire is a life-or-death situation. When I was first turned, I had only my survival to worry about. Now I'm locked in a battle for the existence of the entire human race—and the cards are definitely stacked against me. The Voluntary Vampire Extinction Movement headquarters are destroyed, and their pet horror, the Oracle, is on the loose. She'll stop at nothing to turn the world into a vampire's paradise, even if it means helping the Soul Eater become a god and harnessing his power for her own evil ends. An ancient vampire, a blood-sucking near deity and oh, yeah, my presently human former sire thrown into the mix. I say bring it on. May the best monster win. “It was the damnedest thing, life. Once you decide exactly how things are going to go, something or someone comes along and messes it all up.” Another

The Month Where I Stress Bought All The Books

Don't judge me. I know I stated that I was going to stop buying more than five books a month. Well, I sure as heck was stressed this month. I also sure as heck bought a crap ton of books this month. Unfortunately, I don't want to return these items because we're still fine, financially. Mentally, I'm done. What books did you buy this month? Chosen Ones by Veronica Roth Fortuna Sworn by K.J. After getting accepted to the prodigious Kings Row private school, Nicholas is thrust into a cut-throat world, and finds himself facing not only his golden-boy half-brother, but the unbeatable, mysterious Seiji Katayama... Pacat (The Captive Prince) and fan-favorite artist Johanna the Mad. It's always a hit-or-miss when it comes to reading graphic novels for me. The last one I read, I swore graphic novels were not for me. Now that I've read Fence , I'm in love with graphic novels again. Maybe certain

Unpopular Opinions Time!

Image
I wanted to have a little bit of a discussion about unpopular opinions today. To be honest, I'm bored out of my mind because Lord Of The Rings Online is currently down for maintenance and I use that time playing to listen to audiobooks... Anyway, I'm sure you guys don't care that I'm bored. I'm going to go ahead and list some of my unpopular bookish opinions! I really dislike the Six Of Crows duo. I don't like any of the characters and I really hate the story. This duology fell flat compared to the original Grisha trilogy. There's no way any of these "teens" can do the things they do in these books. They're just completely unbelievable to me.  If a cover is ugly, I may not buy the book. I like books that attract my eye. That's how I find most of the books I buy. I will also say that I hate covers with actual people on the cover. I'd rather see the nice illustrations. Bookstagram. I used to really love Bookstagram. Unfortunately, my lov

Possession Blood Ties (#2) Jennifer Armintrout Published by Mira on January 23rd, 2007 378 pages Goodreads ~ Amazon ~ Kindle ~ Audiobook ~ Book Depository My father always said fear was a weakness. Well, that's easy to say when you don't have to worry about vampire slayers or holy water. I hate fear, but undead life goes on. In the two months since I was attacked in the hospital morgue and turned into a vampire, I've killed my evil sire, Cyrus, fallen in love with my new sire, Nathan, and have even gotten used to drinking blood. Just when things are finally returning to normal―as normal as they can be when sunlight can kill you―Nathan becomes possessed. And then he slaughters an innocent human. Now it's my job to find Nathan before the Voluntary Vampire Extinction Movement does, because they're just waiting for an excuse to terminate him―"and" anyone foolish enough to help him. But it gets worse. It turns out that Nathan's been possessed by one of

The Turning by Jennifer Armintrout // Book Review

The Turning Blood Ties (#1) Jennifer Armintrout Published by Mira on June 1st, 2006 384 pages Goodreads ~ Amazon ~ Kindle ~ Audiobook ~ Book Depository I'm no coward. I want to make that perfectly clear. But after my life turned into a horror movie, I take fear a lot more seriously now. I finally became Dr. Carrie Ames just eight months ago. Then I was attacked in the hospital morgue by a vampire. Just my luck. So now I'm a vampire, and it turns out I have a blood tie to the monster who sired me. The tie works like an invisible leash and I'm bound to him no matter what I do. And of course he's one of the most evil vampires on earth. With my sire hell-bent on turning me into a soulless killer and his sworn enemy set to exterminate me, things couldn't get much worse--except I'm attracted to them both. Drinking blood, living as an immortal demon and being a pawn between two warring vampire factions isn't exactly how I'd imagined my future. But as my fat

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reading Girl . I'm applauding myself for this being I think the second or third TTT in a row! I've fallen in love with my new blog and I'm wanting this one to grow.  This week's topic is a fun one! It's also easy. We're talking about book titles that would make good band names. Away From The Blog Well guys, I went to work on Monday and that was the last day I worked. I was placed on a fourteen day self isolation due to some crazy stuff. Honestly, I'm ready to get back to work. I miss making money and I miss going out of the house. Once I get a full-ish paycheck, I will be reopening my Book Depository giveaway here. Needless to say, not much happened all week. I didn't read too much. I bought a lot of books, so I had a lot of book mail. I will not be sharing those books here because I don't want to spend too much time working on posts when I'm almost done reading two books. My eight year anniversary was yesterday! It was such a nice day. It was nice to be home with my husband all day. I got a lot of reading done yesterday and last night. I made a roast for dinner. It was fantastic. I've been using VeryDice since late 2018. Since I started using this app, I have received eight free books. I know that may not seem like a lot since 2018. But hey, that's eight books on my shelves that I didn't have to pay for! There are many ways you can gain tickets for redemption. The main thing I do is watching ads. Happy Friday! Times are crazy right now. I'm currently staying home from work for fourteen days because of some crazy things that happened. I don't want to go into here because this is my happy place. I want to talk to you guys. I want to see what everyone is reading right now! I have been off work since Tuesday and have yet to finish a book. To be honest, I was stressing all day Tuesday and Wednesday. I was pretty busy Wednesday and Thursday. It's now Friday and I have a ton to do. I need to clean. I have a puzzle I want to work on. I can definitely listen to my audiobook while doing these! Please tell me what you're currently reading and your thoughts about that book! Sawkill Girls by Claire LeGrand I'm reading this through audiobook. I feel like I may finish it today. But you know, I honestly don't know what to feel about this book. I'm confused for the most part. Girls are going missing and this teenager thinks she can solve it. That has to be my least

Books I Enjoyed But Rarely Talk About

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reading Girl . I have a ton of time on my hands right now. I'm trying really hard to keep up with my posts and whatnot. This week's TTT is discussing books that I enjoyed but hardly ever talk about. Being a book blogger, sometimes it's hard to gush about every book you read. Granted, I write a review for every book I read. I just don't continuously talk about certain books. Obviously, we manage to talk about what's new and popular. Here are some of the books that I have enjoyed! Arouse by Nina Lane Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas The Turning by Jennifer Armintrout Blood Rights by Kristen Painter Breaking Him by R.K. Lilley Buttons And Lace by Penelope Sky The City Of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty Crown Of Lies by Pepper Winters Wallbanger by Alice Clayton The Last Wish Of Sasha Cade by Cheyanne Young What are some books that you enjoyed but rarely talk about?

Away From The Blog With the Coronavirus, it's obvious that not a lot happened away from my blog. I stopped blogging for a minute and switched back from WordPress to Blogger. I want to blog and I don't want to have to pay to do something I really enjoy.  Work has changed a bit. They cut our store hours. You'd think that I would read more. I haven't. If anything, I've read less. I'm going to go ahead and say that I did a terrible job at minimizing my book buying to five books per month. I'm not gonna lie, I may have ordered a lot more than that. I'm a stressed shopper. I stress shopped. I'm now broke. Oh well. You'll see the books most likely on my next weekly recap... Don't judge me.
