August Book Haul

Image
Happy last day of August! I'm here today to bring you my August book haul. I have been pretty stressed lately when it comes to blogging. That's why you haven't seen me much here. I'm trying to get things figured out and I'm trying to make sure I enjoy blogging. Since my son has started school, I have had a lot of down time. I want to make sure that my time is not used just sitting around not doing anything. I'm hoping that coming back to blogging will help me out. I got so many amazing books this month! I cannot wait to read them :) Please be sure to let me know what books you got this month as I would love to know! 500 Miles From You  by Jenny Colgan Love Lettering  by Kate Clayborn The Lucky Ones  by Liz Lawson Incendiary  by Zoraida Cordova The Iron Daughter  by Julie Kagawa You Say It First  by Katie Cotugno The Marriage Game  by Sara Desai Conventionally Yours  by Annabeth Albert Notes From My Captivity  by Kathy Parks Again Again  by E. Book Review: Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

Shelby Mahurin Published by HarperTeen on September 3rd, 2019 513 Pages Goodreads ~ Amazon ~ Kindle ~ Audiobook ~ Book Depository ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bound as one to love, honor, or burn. Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned. Sworn to the Church as a Chasseur, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle:  thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.  His path was never meant to cross with Lou's, but a wicked stunt forces them into an impossible union—holy matrimony. The war between witches and Church is an ancient one, and Lou's most dangerous enemies bring a fate worse than fire. Unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, a choice must be made. And love makes fools of us all. This book was addictive . I did not want to put it down. I'm glad I read it when I did beca

Possibly Back To Blogging?

Image
I've been blogging since about 2015. I've been apart of the book community since 2015. It's been a bit tiresome lately. I find myself constantly stressing over posts. Over likes. Over comments. Over followers. With everything else going on in my life, I do not need this extra stress as well. I just need to stop letting these things get to me and learn how to blog for me again. I have deleted my giveaway. I honestly love giving books to fellow book lovers. But I can honestly say that giveaways stress me out. I can't say how because that would mean that I know how my brain works. Unfortunately, I do not. I am going to try and bring myself back to blogging. I'm not going to stress myself out over posts and whatnot. I just know that I'm going to have a lot of time by myself in the foreseeable future and I need something else to keep my mind occupied. I just have to remember that this is supposed to be fun. This is for my enjoyment. Update! After posting this and a

Book Review: My Life In Shambles by Karina Halle

Image
Karina Halle Published by Metal Blonde Books on April 12th, 2019 348 Pages Goodreads ~ Amazon ~ Kindle ~ Audiobook ~ Book Depository ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They say bad things happen in threes. After my boyfriend broke off our engagement, I lost my apartment, and was laid off from my job, I can definitely attest to that.   They also say life is what happens when you say yes to new adventures. So when my two sisters invited me to ring in the new year in Ireland, I decided to throw all caution to the wind and go for it. I was going to let "saying yes" be my new resolution.   Little did I know I'd spend New Year's Eve having a hot and dirty one-night stand with Padraig McCarthy, one hell of a sexy Irishman. I also didn't know that the brooding and intense sex god was one of Ireland's top rugby players. A rugby player with a proposition for me: come with him to his tiny hometown of Shambles and pretend to be his fiancee for a few days, just so that his ailing father can ha

Book Review: Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre

Image
Alessandra Torre Published by Alessandra Torre on April 28th, 2018 262 Pages Goodreads ~ Amazon ~ Kindle ~ Audiobook ~ Book Depository Everyone in Nashville knows Nathan Dumont. That’s what happens when you develop half a town and sleep with the rest. Five years ago, his fiancee disappeared. Last night, he proposed to me.  I had wanted to escape my life, the seedy strip club and the mountain of bills. I had seized the opportunity to live in a mansion, fill my days with country clubs and caviar, my nights with romance and sex.  Maybe I should have done my homework first. Is there ever going to be an Alessandra Torre book I don't like? Probably not. I'm trash for her books. Trophy Wife  follows Candace, an erotic dancer who is just trying to get by in life. She just wants to pay her rent and make sure her dad lives comfortably in the home he has to stay in due to his bad health. Enter in Nathan. A man seeking something. Maybe seeking Candice? He propositions her to a marriage

Book Review: Reborn Yesterday by Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey Published by Tessa Bailey on March 17th, 2020 382 Pages Goodreads  ~  Amazon  ~  Kindle  ~  Audiobook  ~  Book Depository Oh boy.... this book.....  I don't think I'm going to have anything extremely nice to say about this book. Which sucks, because I was really looking forward to loving this book because I need more vampire books in my life. This book was just awful. Going into this book, I could have sworn it was written by a thirteen-year-old on Wattpad. On page 30, the main character, Ginny, was talking about her stepmother and her drinking. She literally said "pedal to the metal". I almost dnf'd right there. I believe that Ginny is at least in her mid-twenties. It made me cringe so hard. There was also a way she described Jonas going down on her. "Batting her clitoris like a predator with it's cornered prey." What the hell is this? And Ginny just saying "We're compatible. We're compatible." while he's doing thi

Book Review: Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

(Elantris Book #1) Brandon Sanderson Published by Gollancz on May 1st, 2005 615 Pages Goodreads  ~  Amazon  ~  Kindle  ~  Audiobook  ~  Book Depository Elantris was the capital of Arelon: gigantic, beautiful, literally radiant, filled with benevolent beings who used their powerful magical abilities for the benefit of all. Yet each of these demigods was once an ordinary person until touched by the mysterious transforming power of the Shaod. Ten years ago, without warning, the magic failed. Elantrians became wizened, leper-like, powerless creatures, and Elantris itself dark, filthy, and crumbling. Arelon's new capital, Kae, crouches in the shadow of Elantris. Princess Sarene of Teod arrives for a marriage of state with Crown Prince Raoden, hoping -- based on their correspondence -- to also find love. She finds instead that Raoden has died and she is considered his widow. Both Teod and Arelon are under threat as the last remaining holdouts against the imperial ambitions of the ruthles

Books With Colors In The Title

Image
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl . Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s topic is to list books with colors in the title. I’m assuming that means like “Red Queen” or “Red, White, And Royal Blue”. Yes, I will use those books in this tag because I feel like it’s going to be a hard one. I’ve learned that most books that have a color in the title are either “red” or “black”. List some books in the comments that have colors in the title! Red Rising by Pierce Brown Burning Blue by Paul Griffin The Black Witch by Laurie Forest Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston As Red As Blood by Salla Simukka Red Hood by Elana K. Arnold The Empire Of Gold by S.A. Chakraborty My Heart And Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga Black Obsidian by Victoria Quinn Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

July Wrap Up

Image
July was a pretty stressful month for me. I honestly didn’t read as much this month as I have any other month so far this year. That’s okay. I’m allowed to take some time away from reading. I’m still pretty stressed so I may not read much next month either. Again, that’s okay. I already hit my Goodreads goal, so I’m golden there. Most of the books I managed to read this month, I rated pretty high! I’ll take quality of quantity any day. Stats Pages: 3,842 Physical: 4 Audiobook: 7 What books did you read this month? What book was your favorite? Have you read any of the books on my list? Wilder Girls by Rory Power: I honestly really disliked this book. It definitely was not for me. At all. I will admit, it’s more of a “me” problem and not the “story” problem. Horror is just not my cup of tea. I just didn’t enjoy this book and it did nothing but gross me out. I don’t think I’ll pick up another book by Rory Power in the future. ⭐⭐ Twice A Wish by Pepper Winters: OH THE STEAM! This bo
