July Wrap Up:

Image
July was a great reading month for me. I read six books! This definitely makes up for my slack in the last few months. I read a mixture of things. YA contemporary, YA fantasy and even New Adult. My favorite read of the month has to go to All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover. Such an emotional read. I loved it so much! What books did you read last month? Have you read any of these? What were your thoughts on them? I also switched my blog around (again) so don’t mind the differences in the post. My Review –  Goodreads – Amazon – Kindle Dell is used to disappointment. Ever since her dad left, it’s been one let down after another. But no one—not even her best friend—understands all the pain she’s going through. So Dell hides behind self-deprecating jokes and forced smiles. Then the one person she trusts betrays her. Dell is beyond devastated. Without anyone to turn to for comfort, her depression and self-loathing spin out of control. But just how far will she go to make all the heartbrea

Book Review: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Goodreads – Amazon – Kindle  Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name. Some cops and the local drug lord try to intimidate Starr and her family. What everyone wants to know is: what really went down that night? And the only person alive who can answer that is Starr. But what Starr does or does not say could upend her community. It could also endanger her life. My Review: I really just want everyone to read this book. This book is so important. Especially with everything that goes on today. The Hate U Give follows Starr. A black gir

My Favorite.... Dream Job

My Favorite.. is a weekly meme hosted by Maureen’s Books. In this meme we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it.. The world can be a dark place and it’s time to share something positive. For more info and the upcoming subjects visit the My Favorite Meme . page. I have always wanted to be an English teacher. It was hands down my all-time favorite class. It really shaped me into the person I am today. I really feel like I would enjoy teaching to kids. I definitely see myself as Jessica Day when it comes to teaching. I, unfortunately, do not want to go to college so that kind of puts a damper on that dream job. I’m still young and I could change my mind. As of right now, I don’t see myself going into more debt to go back to school. Now, here’s my current dream job that I know will absolutely never happen. I’ve recently become obsessed with The Greatest Showman. If they ever put it on Broadway, I need to be a back up dancer.  Every single time I watch th

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I've Read Because of Blogs/Booktube

I’ve found Top Five Tuesday. Made by the lovely Shanah over at BionicBookWormBlog . I’ve decided this is going to be better than the Top Ten. Most of the time, I don’t have the time to come up with a list of ten things. This narrows my time down by half. I’ve been around the book community for quite some time now. A little over two years, I think. Going through Booktube, Bookstagram and blogs have made a huge influence on what books I’ve read throughout the last two years.  Here’s my list of five books that I was introduced to by our lovely book community! I fought this one so hard. I never wanted to read a book by Sarah J. Maas. I thought her books were too hyped. I thought there was no way in hell that her books were that good.  Boy, oh, boy. I was so wrong. I’m almost at that stage in obsession where you buy multiple copies of books just to have them. (I’m buying Books A Million’s special edition copy of ACOFAS even though I already own a copy.) I kind of hate myself for denying thi
