Synopsis:
The world has turned upside down for Thad and Ari Glavan, the bastard twins of SĂșndraille’s king. Their mother was murdered. The royal family died mysteriously. And now Thad sits on the throne of a kingdom whose streets are suddenly overrun with violence he can’t stop.

Growing up ignored by the nobility, Ari never wanted to be a proper princess. And when Thad suddenly starts training Ari to take his place, she realizes that her brother’s ascension to the throne wasn’t fate. It was the work of a Wish Granter named Alistair Teague, who tricked Thad into wishing away both the safety of his people and his soul in exchange for the crown.

So Ari recruits the help of Thad’s enigmatic new weapons master, Sebastian Vaughn, to teach her how to fight Teague. With secret ties to Teague’s criminal empire, Sebastian might just hold the key to discovering Alistair’s weaknesses, saving Ari’s brother—and herself.

But Teague is ruthless and more than ready to destroy anyone who dares stand in his way—and now he has his sights set on the princess. And if Ari can’t outwit him, she’ll lose Sebastian, her brother…and her soul.

This is my first Rumpelstiltskin retelling! I adored this book. This book has been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. I'm glad I was finally able to pick it up.

The Wish Granter starts off with Thad trying to make a wish to help protect his sister, Ari. Unfortunately, Teague wants him to wish for more. When he does, both of their worlds get turned upside down. They are now king and princess of Sundraille. Thad is still stuck in his bargain with Teague and Ari wants to break their agreement.

This book mostly follows Ari. She's a girl who's not used to being a princes. She hates corsets and loves to snack and cook. She meets a boy named Sebastian when she decides she needs weapons to protect herself from Teague if he were to show up. Sebastian and Ari end up getting closer than they "should".

Their story gets worse when Teague realizes that they're trying to break the agreement. Teague despises humans and will do anything to get to rule over them.

This book was just fantastic. I loved all of it. It was so fun. The magic was beautiful. The world was gorgeous. The writing was amazing. There wasn't anything that I didn't like!

I loved all of the characters, especially Teague. I know he's a villain and we're not supposed to like him. I just really freaking liked him!

4/5 Stars
