Synopsis:

Luck be a vampire tonight . . .

When Nicole Phillips agreed to hire a housekeeper, she pictured someone a little frumpy and almost certainly female. Instead, she gets gorgeous, unmistakably male Jake Colson. The man is proving indispensable in the kitchen—and everywhere else. Except Jake might not be a mortal man at all.

. . . and every night

Who wouldn’t want to be a tall, dark, powerful vampire? Jake, for one. He’s barely had time to adjust to his new state before he’s roped into a family favor. Still, secretly playing bodyguard to sweet, sexy Nicole is turning out to be the wildest ride of his life. First he’ll put a stop to whoever’s targeting her. Then he’ll prove that this kind of love, and luck, happens only once in an eternity.

Overall Rating: 3/5 Stars

It’s been a good minute since I read a book by Lynsay Sands. I can honestly say that I don’t love them as much as I used to. It’s kind of disappointing because I still have a lot of book from this series that I need to read. I will still read them though, because even though I didn’t love it as much as I did, I still enjoyed myself.
I still love the scientific parts of this series. I love the nanos and I love that they originated from Atlantis. I think that is so creative. I love how there’s an explanation for everything. The fangs, the eyesight, the hearing, etc. It’s not very often I’ve come across a vampire book that was scientifically explained.
I enjoyed the book. All the way until the ending. I was not a fan whatsoever with how it ended. How is the bad guy going to be someone that nobody even cares about? That’s some kind of BS.
So, I really loved Jake. I loved that he his undercover as a cook/housekeeper to keep Nicole safe. I really liked that he didn’t intentionally go there but on a favor for the amazing Marguerite, the matchmaker. I really had fun with seeing their relationship grow. I just didn’t see how Nicole was okay with the immortals as fast as she was. I feel like she should have put up some resistance for that knowledge.
All in all, I think it was really enjoyable. I just hated the ending and hated Nicole’s reasoning for the immortals and being instantly okay with them. If those were different, I would have given the book at least a 4.5.
