Synopsis:

I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with the nanny.

When my wife left, she took the illusion of happiness with her, and I’ve been caught in a free fall ever since. For nine long months, I’ve been fighting to figure out how to be a single dad, how to be alone.

For nine long months, I’ve been failing.

When Hannah walked through the door, I took my first breath since I’d found myself on my own. She slipped into our lives effortlessly, showing me what I’ve been missing all these years. Because Hannah made me smile when I thought I’d packed the notion of happiness away with my wedding album.

She was only supposed to be the nanny, but she’s so much more.

The day my wife left should have been the worst day of my life, but it wasn’t. It was when Hannah walked away, taking my heart with her.

A Little Too Late follows Hannah, a young Dutch au pair who is currently looking for a new live-in nanny job so she can stay in the United States. Her first job ended horrendously, thanks to the perverted husband. She’s sent to Charlie’s house for an interview and gets the job almost instantly.

She moves in and she hits it off with the family automatically. It doesn’t even feel like a job to her. She loves the children and even has a thing for her boss, Charlie. He has a thing for her too but refuses to act on it because of their business relationship.

“I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with the nanny”

They obviously act on their attractions. They have their troubles because of his ex wife and her old boss. Things happen and they split up. Typical relationship with these kinds of books.

I didn’t really find anything really special with this book. It didn’t click with me and if I didn’t have my rule of finishing all of the books I start, I would have put it down.

“Hannah, you might be one of the best things to have ever happened to me.”

I liked the characters, a little bit. I mean, they were as good as they could get I guess. Nothing too unique about them. Other than the fact that the main character is Dutch.  I didn’t really care for Charlie too much. I think he’s okay, just a flat character.

I’m sure this book is appealing to other, I’m not going to not recommend it to anyone. I’m sure there are people out there who love this book.

“I didn’t want to be free. I only wanted to be hers.”
