BEWARE!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Colleen Hoover has done it again. She has graced my life with another masterpiece. I don’t think there will ever be a book of hers that I don’t love.
So the first chapter is misconstrued, although I’m sure that was her plan. I thought Holder and Sky were fighting and that was why she was tearing up the place. Oh boy, was I wrong.
So in the second chapter, we learn that Sky isn’t an innocent home schooled girl her mother thinks she is. She sneaks boys in through her bedroom window, like her best friend Six. We also learn that Sky was adopted at like age four or five by a woman named Karen. The poor girl hasn’t even attended an actual high school yet and there are already rumors about her. Like her being a whore and whatnot.
Her first day of school was basically hell. She had a locker filled with dollar bills because everyone thought it would be funny to “pay” her to be a whore. Her friend Six was supposed to attend school with her but she went out of the country to do some schooling. She does end up making a new friend though! Sky and Brecken make an alliance to be friends, against the rest of the school.
Later on that day, she meets Holder. Dun dun dun! At first, he’s a fucking creeper. Following her to her car and asking her what her name is and when he learns that her name is Sky, he gets upset about it. At this point, I did not like Holder at all. I felt like he was going to be a dick throughout the entire book. According to everyone in school, Holder is a bad boy who committed a hate crime and spent a year in juvi. All because his sister committed suicide.
Later later on that day, she goes for daily run and just so happens to take a break right in front of Holder’s house. They do some chit chat for a few minutes and he runs her back to her house. She faints and he somehow weasels his way into being her running partner.
The next morning, she convinces Holder to go back to school. He wasn’t going to because all of the shit he had to deal with the previous year. All day, they bickered about things. Why she shouldn’t date Grayson. Why he got in a lot of trouble last year. Listening to rumors, etc.
Holder eventually calms down enough to go to Sky and speak with her. He sneaks into her window and everything. She learns many things about Holder, things no one else has been able to tell her. She finds out that he didn’t know the kid was gay that he beat up and that he wasn’t in Juvi after all.
She admits that she likes him and they spend more time together as the days progress.
She fooled around a lot before she met Holder. She only made out with people though, always trying to just feel something. When she’s with Holder intimately, she feels.

She has a childhood flashback of two kids giving Sky a bracelet, which I automatically assumed was Holder and his deceased twin sister. She has yet to actually remember who Holder is though, so when he freaks out about the bracelet she gets frustrated because she keeps thinking he has some weird split personality or something. They stop talking to each other for four weeks.

The fifth week, on Sky’s birthday, Holder shows up at her house and stays the night. They finally fucking kiss because for some reason Holder held that off for too freaking long. That night we learn that Holder and Grayson have fought before. He dated Lesslie, Holder’s sister.

This review is kind of sloppy. I took terrible notes because I was way too into the book to put the damned thing down.

So it’s Halloween time and Holder goes to a party and gets drunk. He then goes to Sky’s house and cuddles on her and says “I love you Hope.” This had me flipping my shit. I came to so many different conclusions as to why he would call her someone else’s name.

Holder takes Sky to his house for the first time ever. They get all hot and heavy until Sky starts to freak out. She then wonders aimlessly around the house to get some air and goes into Lesslie’s room. She finds a picture of Lesslie and Holder as kids and finally remembers them. Holder tells her that she is Hope.

She has been missing for thirteen years. Kidnapped right off her front lawn in front of little Dean Holder. She puts two and two together with Holder and realize that Karen actually kidnapped her and that she isn’t her real adoptive mother. Hence why there is no internet or cable in her home.

She asks Dean to take her to her old home. He puts up a small fight about it, but he does take her. She sneaks in the house and goes to her old bedroom. She lays down on the bed and has a flashback of her dad raping her. And that’s the room she tears up in the first chapter.

At their hotel room, she tries to get Holder to sleep with her. To take that part of her that her father stole from her years before. He couldn’t follow through with it because it was for all the wrong reasons.

She somehow convinces Holder to take her back to her old house, her plan was to confront her dad. Which she does. She gets all of the nasty, vile answers she was looking for. She wasn’t the only person he raped. He raped his sister and he raped Lesslie. Which is most likely why she killed herself.

Luckily, her father ends up killing himself. I would have been pissed if Colleen kept that bastard alive.

Sky and Holder make their way back home so Karen can come clean to her. She admitted to kidnapping her. She also admitted to being her aunt, the sister that her father raped. She saw them in a grocery store and just knew that he was raping little Hope. So she did what she thought was best and took her away from that terrible environment.

In the end, I’m sure Sky stays with Karen and doesn’t turn her in.

And of course, I’m pretty sure that Holder and Sky live happily ever after.

This book was so fucking good. I could not put it down for the life of me. Colleen Hoover is an author that will never disappoint. ALWAYS read her books!!!
