Synopsis:
Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.

Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of... lucky.

Review

The Unhoneymooners follows Olive and Ethan who get to go on their siblings' honeymoon because they got sick at their wedding and couldn't go. They put their mutual hatred of each other to the side for the chance to get a free vacation. They only downside... they have to pretend they're married. Soon, their lie gets bigger than they expected.

Quite a few... unbelievable things happen. Olive's new boss just happens to be in Maui celebrating his anniversary with his wife. Ethan's ex girlfriend also seems to vacationing with her new fiance`. It all just seemed a bit too coincidental to me.

Did it bother me? Nope. I'm still rating this book a full five stars.

I really enjoyed this book, as I do all of the other Christina Lauren books I have read. This one was no exception.

I loved all the characters. Olive's family is so freaking cute. I really just want to be apart of their family now. Ethan is delicious and is perfect for Olive.

Of course, there's drama. Unfortunately, people get hurt. Words are said. I liked this aspect of the book. It's real, if you know what I mean. Nobody believes Olive when she discovers something about her twin sister's husband and everyone thinks she's just being cynical. I like that there was a bit of drama involved.

Also, Olive and Ethan's banter in this book is perfect!

5/5 stars
