Synopsis:

A showrunner and her assistant give the world something to talk about when they accidentally fuel a ridiculous rumor in this debut romance.

Hollywood powerhouse Jo is photographed making her assistant Emma laugh on the red carpet, and just like that, the tabloids declare them a couple. The so-called scandal couldn't come at a worse time--threatening Emma's promotion and Jo's new movie.

As the gossip spreads, it starts to affect all areas of their lives. Paparazzi are following them outside the office, coworkers are treating them differently, and a "source" is feeding information to the media. But their only comment is "no comment".

With the launch of Jo's film project fast approaching, the two women begin to spend even more time together, getting along famously. Emma seems to have a sixth sense for knowing what Jo needs. And Jo, known for being aloof and outwardly cold, opens up to Emma in a way neither of them expects. They begin to realize the rumor might not be so off base after all...but is acting on the spark between them worth fanning the gossip flames?

My Review

I really really really wanted to love this book. So much. But how are you going to wait until the last chapter for the sexy scene??? I honestly don’t blame the author for this. I believe that this is the first female/female romance novel that Berkely has released. Maybe they didn’t want her to put a lot of smut in the book. Who knows?

Something To Talk About follows both Jo and Emma. Emma is Jo’s assistant and Jo is an actress/director. Jo asks Emma to accompany her to a red carpet event so that she can help her dodge questions about a movie she’s directing.

Of course, the rumors begin that they are together.

This book follows their friendship that slowly turns into something more. Extremely slowly. I honestly wouldn’t even call this a slow-burn romance. It kind of slaps you in the face at the end of the book. There were times I thought Jo was going to tell Emma to stop liking her. They ended up being perfect for each other in the end though.

I would say that this book is a high three-star rating. It was both fun and serious. There’s a part in the book where Emma is sexually harassed by another director and Jo basically destroys his career over it. Jo is a badass if you didn’t know.

I’m definitely looking forward to more books by Meryl 🙂
