Honestly, 2021 isn’t any better than 2020 for us. We lost my grandma this month. My stress has been acting up again. I was really hoping this year would be better. In some ways it is. I have a better job. I’m home more with my family. It’s been an adjustment.
I’m still working on fitting blogging into my life again. I don’t think I wrote any book reviews this month. That’s okay. I’m not going to go back and write book reviews for books that I’ve already read this year. I’ll just work on writing reviews for books that I’m going to read in the future.
I managed to read eleven books in April. That’s pretty exciting. At this point of me writing this wrap-up, I’m five books ahead of schedule on my Goodreads challenge. Without further adieu, I’m going to start this wrap-up because I gotta tell you if I liked the books I read.
Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert: This one wasn’t my favorite in the Brown Sister’s series. The scene with Eve’s purple friend killed me. I died. I love Talia Hibbert’s writing and I’ll definitely be picking up more of her books in the future. ★★★★
Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao: This was a reread for me. I loved it as much as I did the first time around. This is an Anastasia retelling and it’s fantastic. I 100% recommend it. ★★★★★
Red Tigress by Amelie Wen Zhao: Red Tigress was a bit of a disappointment for me. I was expecting the romance to be more prominent in this book… it was not. Ana and Ramson kind of just went their separate ways throughout this book and I’m not about that. It still was really good and I enjoyed it. I just gave it four stars because I want Ana and Ramson to admit they care for each other dammit. ★★★★
Love On The Run by Imogen Markwell-Tweed: I need to stop picking up novellas. They are just not for me. This is a mafia romance where the mafia guy is supposed to kill his boyfriend but they run away instead. Novellas just kind of leave everything up to your own imagination and I don’t like it. I blame Scribd for making me read this one. ★★
Verity by Colleen Hoover: Hey, I actually wrote a review for this one! I loved this book. It really had me shocked. I was thrilled. My jaw kept dropping. This book is fantastic. Read it. I won’t tell you what it’s about because you need to go in blind. READ IT. ★★★★★Untouchable by Sam Mariano: I have no problems reading dark romances. They do not bother me. I just really didn’t like this one. I couldn’t even make myself put it down because I needed to know how it ended. I don’t recommend this one. ★★
His Alone by Alexa Riley: I read Everything For Her a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it then. I couldn’t tell you what that book is about though. I didn’t care for this book. It was kind of dumb, to be honest. I liked the smut I guess. ★★
Worship by Jack Harbon: For a novella, this one was alright. I enjoy Jack Harbon’s writing style. I can’t get over the fact that novellas are too short. I don’t know why I try to love them. This one was pretty smutty for being like 100 pages long. ★★★
Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo: I don’t think I’m a fan of books that are in verse… I listened to the audiobook of this and I definitely recommend that route if you want to read this book. I did love this story. Verse just isn’t my thing. ★★★
If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka: It took me forever to finish this book. I almost dnf’d this book because I couldn’t stand the main character through the first half of the book. This is a story about personal growth though. She turns her shitty personality around and makes herself nicer. I somehow ended up really enjoying this book. It just took a long time to finish it for some reason. ★★★★Written In The Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur: I really loved this book. I believe this is the first adult romance that I’ve read that is about two women. I could be wrong. I really freaking liked this book. It just feels like it’s missing something and I’m not entirely sure what. ★★★★
