Synopsis:

Angel in his arms . . . Devil at her heels

One last, no-strings night of indulgence. That's all Tristan wants before he begins a much-needed new chapter in his life. Instead he finds an innocent angel in pink who brings him to his knees.

Isabella is done hiding from the world . . . and her haunting memories. Discovering courage in the arms of a perfect stranger, she finally lets go and sheds her inhibitions.

To Isabella's shock, she soon learns that Tristan is more than her mystery man-he's her professor. But Tristan isn't the only person who's found Isabella on campus. A dark figure from her past has come back for her. Now Tristan will risk anything to protect Isabella . . . even if it costs him his life.

Overall Rating: ☆☆☆

If you want a super quick and sexy read, look no further. If I had the time, I'm sure I would have finished this book in one sitting.

After reading a series, it's normally hard for me to get into another book. I got into this book so quick. I was pretty hooked on the story with just the prologue. Which was a story I was not expecting. I mean, I expected some ex boyfriend drama, as the synopsis clearly states. But not crazy ex boyfriend tried to kill me drama.

Plot Rating: ☆☆☆☆

I really enjoyed the story line for this. Even if at times it felt a bit dramatic. The plot twist is what made me give this book a three star rating instead of a two. It was really unexpected and it had me like "WTF". I can normally get a sense on what a plot twist will be before it happens. Not with At His Mercy. It got me good.

Character Rating: ☆☆

I felt like Tristan and Isabella were somewhat developed. I honestly can't really tell you what Tristan looks like. And I know that Isabella is a red head. You're not really told much about them and they're personalities are kind of boring. They were very one dimensional.

All of the secondary characters are as plain as can be. Which is why I don't think I figured out the plot twist ahead of time. You don't really get to know Chloe or Ryder. And if I'm not mistaken, wasn't Ryder married in the first part of the book? His wife is never mentioned again at the end of the book when he comes back into the story.

I really wish that SB went more into detail with the characters and their back stories.

Writing Style: ☆☆☆

SB's writing style is so easy to read. I honestly wouldn't put this in the Adult genre. It's more like New Adult with the way it's written. But, I kind of disliked the third person point of view. I got used to it within a couple of chapters but I've never been a fan of it.

Romance Rating: ☆☆☆☆

I love teacher/student relationships in books. SB did this one so well. I just wish there was more hiding involved. And more repercussions of their relationship when they get caught. It felt almost unrealistic that they basically just got a slap on the wrists for dating each other.

The sex scenes were done really well. They weren't over done and there wasn't too much of it. I wish there was more sexual tension between Tristan and Isabella though. I feel like that would have made this book even sexier.
