My Thoughts:
I think it’s taking some time for this series to actually get to me. I’m not picking up on the story line as fast as I have done with her previous books. This series has a pretty slow start to get to the really good stuff. The ending of this book was the best part because it held the most progress. Pim grew so much within the last few chapters and she’s just going to continue to grow. I feel like I didn’t like this book as much because I figured she would have started healing mentally a lot faster. I know that given the situation she’s in, it’s kind of impossible. But it is fiction, so technically anything is possible.

All-in-all, this book had a really slow start and it took me a while to even get into it.

Pros:
The Setting: Okay, who doesn’t love a book that’s mostly set on a giant boat. Just the feeling of freedom. It’s so amazing. Even when they stopped in Morocco. It was amazing for Pim to be able to experience a new place seeing as she was trapped in one prison for years.

Elder: So there isn’t really anything I dislike about Elder. I know he’s meant to be a “bad” character. I just can’t help but love him. He may be a robber and a murderer. But he’s sexy as hell and he’s such a strong character. I can’t wait to see what all he can teach to Pim about growing and becoming a new woman.

The Romance: I really like that the romance between Elder and Pim is growing and not just “love at first sight”. I love that there’s bumps in the road. I love that they argue. It’s just right for how this story line is.

Cons:
Pim: I feel like I will like Pim in the future. When she starts opening up to Elder and appreciating him more for all he’s done for her. She’s just too stubborn for her own good and it can sometimes be really obnoxious.

Pace: Like I stated earlier,  this book started out extremely slow. I was almost unbearable how slow it started. I didn’t really start caring for this book until the last few chapters.

Recommend To:
Anyone that can handle a bit of tough love. Not for those who get triggered by abuse or rape.
