REVIEW: Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover

Synopsis:

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. but this love has conditions: they agree it will last only one hour, and it will be only make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them seemed perfect only because they were pretending it was. Moments like that happen only in fairy tales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in love-at-first-sight is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Unfortunately for Daniel, finding true love doesn’t guarantee a happily ever after… it only further threatens it.

Will an unbearable secret from the past jeopardize Daniel and Six’s only chance at saving each other?

BEWARE!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I never knew I needed a spin off as much as this. This book is 130 pages of perfection. Thank you Colleen Hoover for this tiny, but efficient, book.
This book is all about Daniel. Someone Colleen seemed to have forgotten to mention in Hopeless. He is in Losing Hope though! He’s beating the school system by not having a class for fifth period and he spends that hour sitting in a closet. Whilst minding his own and trying to nap in the dark, someone comes in and falls on top of him. They decide it would be a great idea to pretend they’re in love with each other and they make love instead of just having meaningless sex. They agree to keep their identities a secret and move on with their lives.
One year later.
Daniel breaks up with Val, the crazy bitch he’s been seeing on and off for a while. He goes to Sky’s house, looking for Holder, to vent about it and he meets Six. Holder lets him know that she’s Sky’s best friend and that she’s off limits. At the end of the night, he get Six to agree to go on a date with him.
On their first date, Daniel learns that Six is basically a guy in a girls body. She’s not extremely feminine and he loves that about her. They’re first date goes so well. So well in fact that they don’t get past their first kiss. Which is great because they want a real relationship and not just pointless sex!
(We later learned that the only reason Daniel even started anything with his ex Val was because he thought she was his Cinderella. He realized that it wasn’t her but continued to date her in hopes that the relationship would turn out good.)
Six and Daniel are hiding there relationship from everyone, including Sky and Holder. They pretend to hate each other to make it seem like they would never be dating. But they don’t do too good because Brecken finds out.
Six starts to believe that Daniel is only dating her because Holder told him not to do it. She thinks he’s doing it to spite him, or some kind of weird reverse psychology. Daniel proceeds to admit to everyone of their relationship and no one seems to have a problem about it. Which pisses me off a tad bit. If you’re gonna get shitty about it before it happens, get shitty when it does happen Holder!
They don’t have sex and they’ve been dating for a few months. Daniel finally realizes that Six is Cinderella. He gives her the nickname at a family dinner and she freaks out. (PS Daniel has a nickname for everyone so everyone thought it was weird he didn’t have one for her.)
She finally tells him the truth. He got her pregnant in the closet. She gave the baby up for adoption while she was schooling in Italy. He gets mad at her and leaves her alone for while. He’s hurt and upset that she didn’t try to find him to tell him what happened.
They end up forgiving each other in the same closet they had sex in the year before.
That’s all of the important things in this book and OH MY GOD. It was such a great book for how tiny it is!!!!
Five stars all the way.
