Synopsis:
Kell is one of the last Antari—magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel Londons; Red, Grey, White, and, once upon a time, Black.Kell was raised in Arnes—Red London—and officially serves the Maresh Empire as an ambassador, traveling between the frequent bloody regime changes in White London and the court of George III in the dullest of Londons, the one without any magic left to see.
Unofficially, Kell is a smuggler, servicing people willing to pay for even the smallest glimpses of a world they'll never see. It's a defiant hobby with dangerous consequences, which Kell is now seeing firsthand.
After an exchange goes awry, Kell escapes to Grey London and runs into Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She first robs him, then saves him from a deadly enemy, and finally forces Kell to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure.
Now perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, they'll first need to stay alive.

My Review:
"I'd rather die on an adventure than live standing still."
I have finally got to this book. I've made this series my last goal for 2018. So far, I'm doing good. One book down, two to go. I'm not going to lie, most of this book was kind of bland. Almost boring. I still enjoyed this book though. I don't know how it's possible.
I've been wanting to read this series for the longest time. There is so much hype surround this series. I don't necessarily think that it lives up to all that hype. It was an alright book. Up until almost the end, nothing really happened. This book was super slow burn. It took forever for things to start happening.
"A life worth having is a life worth taking."
I was living for Lila and Kell. Their banter was the best. I just wish there was more. I know this is a fantasy novel. But come on. I needed this romance. I craved it through the entire book and it never landed. WHY? I was really hoping that they would fall in love and go on adventures together. Worst way this book could have ended.
I wanted more of Holland and Rhy. I feel like the banter between all of these characters would be filled with so much sarcasm it would make this fantasy read not only adventurous but also hilarious. I'm really hoping we'll see more of them two in the next book.
Also, Lila is the best. She's amazing. When she found that knife that doubled as also a brass knuckle thing. It was like a kid on Christmas morning. I love her.
I will definitely continue with this series. I feel like the books are going to get better as they go. This was the shortest book in this trilogy and the adventure gets bigger from here.
3.5/5 Stars
"I'm not going to die," she said. "Not till I've seen it."
"Seen what?"
Her smile widened. "Everything."
