Review: Come This Way by Michelle Schlicher

A hiking and outdoor enthusiast, fifty-year-old Fern Conrad can’t imagine spending her time doing anthing else, much to the dismay of her daughter, Colby.

Kara Dawson, a twenty-five-year-old student therapist, has shut life out to focus on her sister’s illness. That is, until a chance meeting pushes her to confront the possibilities- but letting go and moving forward.

Eight-three-year-old Nettie Campbell heals in the hospital while facing the consequences of her actions. Can she repair relationships and forge new bonds as she comes to terms with the truth?

Come This Way is an emotional, honest look into the lives of women who are discovering their own strength. It is a story about difficult choices and the people around us who help us find our way.

This is the first book I’ve read by Michelle Schlicher. It’s not normally a book I would pick up whilst shopping around the bookstore. But I was drawn in by what this book was about. Also, the cover is quite adorable ^.^

In the first chapter, we meet Colby and Fern. They have the typical modern mother-daughter relationship where they don’t agree with things and argue about them. Almost everyone can relate to this, which is what hooked me to begin with. Fern goes about trying to mend their latest fight with a hiking trip, where they get lost, which only makes matters worse.

In the second chapter, we meet Kara. A young woman who spends most of her time at a hospital with her sister, Kate. She doesn’t get out much and when she gets asked out by a Eric Ford, she can’t help but to say yes.

The third, we meet Nettie. A feisty old woman who is currently in the hospital.

This book is absolutely amazing. I loved all of the characters and their personalities, especially Nettie. You can learn so much from this book.

I love how all of their stories get tied together at the end, that was very clever! It made me love this book even more.
