Synopsis:
An assassin’s loyalties are always in doubt but her heart never wavers.
Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become the King’s Champion. But she is far from loyal to the crown. Though she hides her secret vigilantly, her deadly charade becomes difficult when she realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. No one is above questioning her allegiance—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.
Then, one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie … and whom she is willing to fight for.
Review: Crown Of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. 4.5/Stars. Please don’t read ahead if you haven’t read this book.
I feel like as these books go on, they’re going to get better and better. I feel like Crown of Midnight was a lot better than Throne of Glass. When I read ToG, I honestly couldn’t tell whether or not I would enjoy this series. Reading this book, I know I’m going to love it. Just not as much as ACOTAR.
I love that magic is becoming more of a thing in this book. I can’t wait to see what magic can bring to this series.
I’m also falling in love with Chaol. I though I wanted Celaena with Dorian. But I’m now thinking that Chaol is the better choice. Hopefully, she doesn’t switch between the two. I can’t stand the love triangle trope. I just can’t. I just really like that the romance is finally blossoming in this book. I really thought these books were going to be heavy in the romance genre seeing as a lot of people listed it as romance on Goodreads.
Can we also talk about the rebellion? I love that people are plotting against the bad government. I love it when people take a stand. I just felt really bummed when Nehemia was killed. She was one of my favorite characters and I feel like she and Celaena would have been great leaders together in this rebellion movement.
I really love the fact that Celaena is going against the king in her own way. I was going to end up really disliking her if she was going to kill people for the man that killed her family. Thank you Celaena for being so bad ass.
And the ending. OMG THE ENDING. I didn’t think there was actually going to be Fae in this series, just the mention of them. And the fact that Celaena is actually Aelin and the lost Queen of Terrasen. I almost had a heart attack just reading the last few paragraphs.
I am beyond excited to see where this story goes and what AELIN does in Wendyln. I’m going to have to get used to calling her Aelin now >.<
